Inspired by a beautifully-proportioned Craftsman Mission door that I saw. I built a small model of this cabinet – a “maquette” – to try out various interior arrangements. The main cabinet is constructed using dovetails; the dividers are dovetailed, as are the drawers. Lots of handwork using saws and chisels, a real pleasure to build.
The primary wood is cherry (note the book-matched panels in the doors) with quartersawn red oak used on the caseback and drawer sides for figure and contrast.
